Programs for Schools, Teachers and Parents

Bigger Than Bullying™ Impact Presentation provides a toolset that teaches youth to Slay the Inner Bully from the inside out.  (45 minutes)

For middle schools, high schools and colleges, community centers, parent/teacher conferences, and PTOs.

This presentation addresses the issues of bullying and social exclusion in our schools and works to shift the mindset from competition/bully to collaboration and contribution.

Judy Giovangelo is a motivational speaker with heart. Judy inspires our youth to take full responsibility for their thoughts, words, feelings, actions and choices. She provides hands-on tools through kinesthetic and visual exercises to encourage students to recognize their own power.

In this presentation, Judy will:

• Share her life story of powerlessness as a child growing  up in a chaotic, alcoholic environment, including her own learning challenges;

• Discuss the “Power of Choices” she made in her teens, good and bad, and the consequences of those choices;

• Speak of the loss of her son, Ben, to suicide, after years of dealing with mental illness and bullying;

• Demonstrate the power of her choices moving forward since the loss of her son (i.e., the power of forgiveness vs. blame);

• Describe her mission to empower youth by teaching the power of intention to create action in service for the greater good. She will utilize the visual demonstration, “Hands & Feet,” to represent the intention or goal and the commitment to step forward in action. Students will create their intention (hands) and commitment (feet) to display in their schools.

Programs to Support Grieving Families

“We Care” Retreats
Our “We Care” Retreats are designed to provide grief support to families and friends who have lost loved ones. The Retreats offer a safe place for participants to share their feelings, express their emotions and be nurtured in the healing process. The retreats are hands-on and experiential. They will include many holistic wellness resources from the local community, including yoga, meditation, music, and healing sessions. The retreats are full-day and are offered at various locations several times a year.

A Concert to Remember (Annual Fall Fundraiser)
This annual concert is a community event to honor and remember loved ones lost through tragedy. Oftentimes, when a loved one is lost due to suicide, overdose, or tragic accident, we are left with the pain andfear that he or she will be forgotten. This concert is a place to join together and remember. Moving music and upbeat performances will focus on the process of grief and itsemotions – exploring anger, frustration, sadness, lessons learned,forgiveness, peace, love, joy and celebration. A candle lighting ceremony will honor each loved one.

Performers include at least one seasoned musician (usually from the positive music community, emPower Music & Arts - www.empowerma.com), the Ben Speaks Community Chorus, and many talented local teen performers, musicians and volunteers.

Ben Speaks Community Chorus
The chorus is open to anyone – even if you think you cannot sing. No experience is necessary, only a desireto sing out with enthusiasm.
